Attara Kacheri of Bangalore was located under the rule of Tipu Sultan, the Emperor of Mysore. It is said that amid his chance, the workplaces of the eighteen bureaus of Revenue and General Secretariat extended to a significant degree. Since the castle couldn't house the workplaces, he requested for the development of another building, where the workplaces for the workers could be moved. He named the office as Attara Kacheri, which means eighteen workplaces or offices.
