It is situated on the banks of the Yamuna River and is a memorial to India’s first and foremost freedom fighter Mahatma Gandhi. There is a platform made entirely from black marble where Gandhi’s cremation took place on 31st January 1948. Even now the spirit of Gandhi is immortalized by an eternal flame that remains in the open facing towards the sky. People go there to remember and respect the name that is still alive within the hearts of every Indian citizen.
